Just to update you, we have finished the 2nd leg to Stewart Island. We are currently being billeted on the island, i thought i would just post this up quick before i go to sleep. i am exhausted, and me and dad have had less than 3 hours sleep over the last 48 hours. i will fill you in about last nights storm tomorrow. We had winds exceeding 120km/h and some great waves.
the trackers are playing up a bit so don't believe everything you see, we finished behind Surreal then Sunstone and have 3rd on line honors (its so cool we actually placed!).
lots happening, will try and put it all up in due course.
Matthew
Well done boys!! Have a good break before the next slog. Regards Michael Gale
ReplyDeleteWe are soooo proud of you!! Wet and smelly and battered by the wind and the waves, but you came third - that's just amazing! Enjoy your warm shower, dry bed, a change of menu and terra firma :)
ReplyDeleteGranny-Jo's funeral yesterday was lovely, and the memories you shared with us all made it feel like you were there with us. Charles, Level 8 sent a gorgeous arrangement of flowers to let you know you're in their thoughts, what an amazing dept you have, I've taken a photo so you can see how beautiful they are, they've lifted our spirits.
So for now, rest up well and I'll await the shopping list of things to organise before you leave on the next leg. Any fruit cake left?!
Much love Mom & the home crew xoxox
Very well done guys...must have taken serious stamina. Hope they get the Yellowbricks going again so we can follow your progress for the rest of the race! Good luck for the next leg!

Just loving it all. Hope you are too...Glad to know that you made it safely, but from my view it is all up hill from here...heheheee
ReplyDeleteFuneral yesterday was beautiful. I find I cry more at funerals now after losing my own mum in 2005. Like you guys with granny Jo, I missed my mums passing. I got on the plane from Auckland and she was still with us. I got off in Sydney and she had gone. But such a blessing to know that this is not the end. I think your mum spoke so well yesterday, and then, after hearing both your thoughts during the service it topped it off.
You are a special family and we hold you dear to us as such special friends. Best of luck with the rest of the trip. Not sure about you Matt, but I am loving it.
Tracy
Congrats on making it to Stewart Island!!
ReplyDeleteWe caught up with your beautiful family yesterday, and heard of your amazing adventures. Poor Joy got interrogated as to where you were going, what you were doing - so excited that we can follow your blog! Your family is so proud of you both :)
Have a wonderful rest, and we look forward to reading more about your adventures.
